General Information:

  • Math Challenge is a free math enrichment opportunity for all K-4 Morris Elementary and Anderson Elementary students
  • The program provides 15 sets of math challenges throughout the school year; each set is published every other week starting in late September and ending in May. These math challenges cover problem-solving strategies such as drawing a picture or model, making an organized list, looking for a pattern, working backward, and guess and check.  When the challenges are published online, students will have access to them via the blue button above (CURRENT MATH CHALLENGE)
  • Refer to the Schedule Calendar for dates when the challenges and their solutions will be available on this webpage.

How to Participate

  1. GET the Challenge by clicking on the blue "Current Math Challenge" button at the top of the page.  Download the form from this website, and print it out.
  2. SOLVE some problems. Every grade has a minimum number of problems to solve. You can solve in any order, and skip around.   Solve as many problems as you can and ask for help if you need it.  We encourage you to discuss your strategies and solutions with your parents and siblings.
  3. SUBMIT  your answers on the appropriate Google form.  Each round, when you are done solving problems, fill out the Google form designated for your building for the current challenge.  Please be careful to enter the answers for the problems that you solved.  For example, if you started on problem #5, leave questions #1-4 *blank* in the Google Form.   If you skipped problem #12, be sure you leave Question #12 question blank on your Google Form.
  4. BE RECOGNIZED for your hard work!  You will earn an entry in an end-of-the-year drawing for math-related prizes for every math challenge that you submit which meets your grade-level requirement.  Note that an entry in the drawing is not a guarantee to win a prize.
