General Information

  • The Math Challenge Program is designed to give elementary students opportunities to sharpen their mathematical and problem-solving skills, and to think about mathematics outside of the school setting.
  • Math Challenge is free and no advance sign up is necessary!
  • All FES students are invited to participate.
  • There will be 15 challenges throughout the school year.
  • Refer to the Schedule for dates when the challenges and their solutions will be available on this webpage.
  • This is a great opportunity for families to be involved and enjoy math through fun and engaging math problems! We encourage parents and siblings to get involved in discussing and solving the problems.

How to Participate

  • Access the current challenge
Use the link above (CURRENT MATH CHALLENGE) to view the latest Math Challenge set. New challenges are released every two weeks as per schedule below and can be picked up at the Math Challenge Bulletin Board OR outside of Mrs. Weaver's classroom.
  • Solve the problems
Work independently or with family—show your thinking clearly
  • Submit your answers
Drop off your solutions at the Math Challenge bulletin board before the due date.
  • Check solutions
The solutions will be released along with the next challenge. Students are encouraged to: review their work, learn different strategies, reflect on their approach

Recognition

  • Participants in each challenge will be recognized on the Math Challenge bulletin board.  Those who meet the standard for successful participation on each challenge will receive a small reward.  Those who complete each challenge will receive an award at the end-of-year assembly.
