Math Challenge 2025-2026

Chairpersons: Vinay Kumar Chandrasekaran at [email protected] and Cindy Evensen at [email protected]
The Math in Action program is completely free and requires no sign-up. All K–5 students are encouraged to participate!

How to Participate

  • Challenges (15 total) will be posted according to the Math in Action calendar.
  • Students can:
    • Print the challenge at home, or ask their homeroom teacher for a copy.
    • Solve as many questions as possible (check the minimum required per grade).
    • Submit answers through the Google Form link posted on our PTA website, or ask the teacher for help accessing it.
  • Google Forms will close automatically at the deadline listed on the calendar.
  • Completed forms are auto-graded by PTA and entered for recognition.

Recognition & Prizes

  • Each completed challenge earns students a chance at a prize drawing.
  • Students who complete at least 10 challenges during the year will receive a brag tag.
  • We are working on possible recognition for effort and achievement at the end-of-year awards ceremony.
  • Fun prizes and treats are provided with PTA support.

Benefits of Math in Action

  • Strengthens critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Builds confidence in math beyond the classroom.
  • Encourages perseverance and multiple strategies.
  • Celebrates effort as well as accuracy.

Family Tips

  • Make it a family activity — sit with your child and talk through problems.
  • Remember: mistakes = learning! Effort is what matters.
  • Ask your child to explain their thinking — in words, drawings, or numbers.
