General Information

  • The Math Challenge Program is FREE to all interested Holly Avenue students.
  • Students in all grades and abilities are encouraged to participate.
  • There will be 15 challenges throughout the school year. Refer to the calendar below for release dates, due dates, and challenge solutions.
  • Prizes and certificates will be awarded for students who solve at least 9 challenges.

How to Participate

Even with school closed, you can still participate in Math Challenge.  If your child would like to participate, here is how they do it:
  • Have your child register with Mrs. Kuo by joining her Math Challenge 2020-2021 Google Classroom. Students will need to open Google Classroom and then press 'join a new class'. The Holly Avenue Math Lab class code is m6mmca2.
  • Print the current Math Challenge and write your name, grade, and teacher neatly on the top of it. (see the calendar on this page for Challenge release dates).
  • Solve as many problems as you can. In order to receive credit, students must solve the minimum number required for their grade (see minimum requirements outlined on the Math Challenge).
  • Once the solutions are posted (click the blue button to the right), correct your child's work. Dates that the solutions are available and that the Challenges are due are in the calendar on this page. Write the number of problems attempted and the number of problems that were correct on the top of the first page, just under the student's name, grade, and teacher.
  • Submit your corrected and scored Math Challenge by taking a picture of the front page and submitting it via Math Challenge 2020-2021 Google Classroom
  • Have fun!

    Calendar

Challenges will be due on Mondays by 3pm PST on the Mondays following each solution release date.

Solution is released on the day of the next challenge is published.
