​Bring an Exciting Math Competition to Your School!

The Math Challenge Tournament​® (MCT) gives students an opportunity to challenge themselves, apply their mathematical thinking, and experience the excitement of a live math competition.
Schools and educational centers across the country host MCT each year. As a host, you can offer the tournament exclusively to your own students or open it to students from neighboring schools. We provide the tournament materials, registration system, scoring, awards and prizes, and logistical support. Your school provides the space, volunteers, and on-site coordination.

How to Host the Math Challenge Tournament​®

​1. Register Your School or Center
A school, educational center, PTA/PTSA, teacher, or principal may register to host MCT. Before registering, please review the tournament information and host requirements to ensure you are prepared to run the event. 

When you register, you will select a tournament date within the official MCT tournament period and decide on the tournament location (your school’s gym, library, or cafeteria), the number of students you can accommodate, the tournament time(s), and whether the event is open only to your students or also to students from neighboring schools.
​3. Invite Students to Participate
Once your school is registered, share MCT information to your students and families.
We provide resources that can help you announce the tournament and communicate important information to parents and students. 
4. Host the Tournament
On tournament day, your organizers and volunteers conduct the competition at your designated location. We provide the materials and instructions needed to administer the tournament. ​

5. Submit Answer Sheets
After the tournament, answer sheets are submitted according to the instructions provided to host organizers. We handle the scoring and preparation of results.

6. Celebrate Your Students​
Results and awards are provided after the tournament (about 3 weeks after the tournament). Host schools and centers distribute awards to their participating students and celebrate their accomplishments.
Ellipsis Academy's Support of MCT
Ellipsis Academy is a proud sponsor and supporter of the Math Challenge Tournament (MCT), providing financial, operational and volunteer support that help make the tournament possible.
  • Tournament Infrastructure — Provides and supports the online infrastructure needed to serve thousands of participating students nationwide.
  • 20% School Giveback — Funds the 20% giveback to eligible participating host schools.
  • Tournament Operations — Contributes volunteer resources to support MCT logistics, including registration, preparation, shipping, and distribution.
  • Math Expertise — MCT problems are developed by members of the Math Challenge Program (MCP) team who volunteer their time to create the Math Challenge Program and Tournament. Many of these volunteers are also experienced Ellipsis Academy coaches.

The MCT Give-Back Program

  • Participating host schools may be eligible to receive 20% of the tournament fees collected from students participating at their location.
  • This program provides an opportunity for schools to use the proceeds to support their math programs, student activities, or other school needs.

What Hosting Schools Provide

  • Host schools and centers are responsible for providing the environment and on-site coordination needed to conduct the tournament.
  • ​This includes planning the event, securing an appropriate location, coordinating volunteers, communicating with participants, administering the competition, and completing the required post-tournament procedures.
