About the Math Challenge ProgramStarted by Elly Sarwono in 2007, the Math Challenge Program has grown from a local enrichment initiative at Norman Rockwell Elementary into a nationwide effort enjoyed by tens of thousands of elementary students. Since its inception, countless math enthusiasts and volunteers have contributed their time and talent to creating, editing, and distributing high-quality, thought-provoking problem sets.
What began as a way to engage one school community in mathematical thinking has become a widely loved program that encourages students across the country to explore math in creative and meaningful ways. If your school is interested in adopting this no-cost program and for general questions and comments, contact us at [email protected]. |
Dear Parents, Teachers, Math Coaches, and Math Enthusiasts,
The Math Challenge Program continues to thrive today thanks to the incredible support of dedicated volunteers, passionate educators, and the many students and families who have embraced the joy of problem solving.
Over the years, we’ve been deeply moved by the messages we’ve received—from students who discovered a love for math through our challenges, to parents who shared how Math Challenge sets became a favorite activity at the dinner table. Knowing that our problems spark curiosity, conversations, and collaboration at home and in classrooms is the most rewarding part of what we do.
Our hope is that the Math Challenge Program continues to inspire students to think deeply, persevere through challenges, and find joy in solving problems. Thank you for being a part of this journey and for helping us keep the spirit of mathematical thinking alive.
Warmest,
Elly Sarwono
