Math Challenge 2026-2027

Welcome to the Math Challenge Program (MCP) at Maureen M Welch Elementary! Students can participate by solving biweekly math challenges and submitting their answers according to the instructions below.

All students in grade K - 6 are invited to participate.
There will be 15 challenges throughout the school year.
Refer to the Schedule Calendar for dates on when the challenges and their solutions will be available

The program is completely FREE, and no sign-up is necessary. This is a great opportunity for families to be involved and enjoy math together through fun and engaging math problems. We encourage parents and siblings to get involved in discussing and solving the problems. Please submit your solutions to each Math Challenge by the due date.

👨‍👩‍👧 For Families:
We encourage families to explore the challenges together. Discussing strategies and ideas is a great way to build problem-solving skills.

🧠 How to Participate

1. Access the current Math Challenge by taking a paper copy OR getting it from Mr. Vacca’s SMORES
2. Solve as many problems as you can. Be sure to pay attention to the minimum number of problems required for your grade. Remember to ask for help if you need it! You can ask a family member, a friend, a teacher…anyone!
3. Submit your solutions by the due date (Thursday by 3:00pm) to Mrs. Wagner.
4. Check online the following Friday to see the answers.
Ms. Harrigan will keep track of your submissions. Recognition will be given throughout the year for those who regularly participate!
