General Information

  • Math Challenge is free and no-sign up is necessary.
  • All students are invited to participate.
  • There will be 15 challenges throughout the school year.
  • Refer to the Schedule Calendar for dates on when the challenges and their solutions will be available on this webpage.

How to Participate

1.  GET the challenge. Click the button above (Current Math Challenge) to view the problems. If desired, the math challenge can also be printed.

2. S OLVE as many problems as you can. You can skip around and solve problems in any order. Use a math notebook or whiteboard to work out solutions independently or with a partner.  We encourage you to discuss strategies with your classmates or family members, if completing at home.

Every grade-level has a recommended minimum number of problems to solve:
• Kindergarten & 1st Grade: Solve at least 3 problems.
• 2nd & 3rd Grade: Solve at least 7 problems.
• 4th, 5th or 6th Grade: Solve at least 12 problems.

3.  SUBMIT your answers on the Math Challenge Recording Sheet.
Turn the sheet into Mrs. Sullivan, Ridge Hill’s Math Specialist, or Mr. Bloomfield, Grade 6 Math Teacher. Only write in answers for the problems you solved.  Leave questions blank if you did not complete them.

4.  BE RECOGNIZED for your hard work! All students who complete a challenge will be entered into a prize drawing.
